MAJIC

Majic is integration,
synergy of components in constant motion and change.

Thoughts inhabiting our minds have colors and strength.

Verbal or mute, they never cease, they keep creating.

Majic began with one single wooden charm, an Ethiopian art.
The face of beauty

As work progressed my leading thought was: Each thought is a born spiral, it goes out there in the Ether, bumping, meeting, hooking up with other born spirals, creating new colors, thoughts, ideas....endless motion, never cease.

Majic took about six months to complete.
It got stronger in message with each spiral added.
As part of my path and practice,
and as per realizing I can`t always control what comes out of my mind,
I added "With Harm No One and No Harm Done"
as well as "So Mote It Be".

Naturally, Phoebe and Mowgli have been a great help as always...

Broken Plate

One of my greatest joys is to create out of "junk"
using discarded things.
I`m an avid junk hunter.
My day is perfect when I come home
with a car loaded with "awesome garbage".

Luckily I live among folks who love cooking,
eating and centering around the kitchen
as the heart of the home.
I get endless supply of broken dishes.

Although my work is normally composed with and from multi colors,
this time my piece called for mostly white.

As the work progressed I added some gold and blue

Add some shells and glass beads and voila!

Somewhat gentle work... called for a rougher edge.

Finish and Complete
I don`t know who this piece was meant for,
it is definitely not mine,
its creation process was different than my norm
and was very smooth.
Time will tell...

Dinner!

When I say good neighbors,
I don`t just mean broken plates...

I`ve been privileged and honored to live among
some of the most amazing people I`ve known
for the last two years.

This dish is a labor of love, as is every dish that comes out of my neighbor Maisoun's kitchen.
This is the best of the best of the Druze kitchen.
A culinary heaven.

Stuffed eggplant with ground beef.
From what I know, it takes a whole morning
to slave over.
There are no words to describe the taste.
You just close your eyes and savor every bite.

Bon Appetite!

The Goddess Within

The image of the Goddess has been with me for many years.
I walk a 100% religion-free path, have been all my life,
yet I do believe in a stronger power of the nurturing mother.
She is nature, she is life and death, she is creation and destruction.
I am well aware and have the utmost respect
to various religions who consider the Goddess their deity.
My personal relationship with her is a non-religious one.

When it comes to art, sitting at my work table, she takes a life of her own
in colorful creations .
Each image of her comes out different, reflecting another aspect of
her colorful energy.
It has been years that in between various art projects
I feel called to create another image of her.

It begins with hand sculpting her figure in clay.
Various kinds of clay (grainy, smooth, white, tera cota etc.) will result in different aspects of a final piece.

Some of her images call for mosaic work

Some are clay, painted and beaded

When I`m immersed in Goddess art, the outcome is never known to me.
I`m always surprised at the end result, usually in favor of awe.

She is always here, always present.

Lady, Grandmother, Crone. Thank you for your gift.
